Access and Functional Needs Priority Survey
During its kick-off meeting on May 18, 2011, the Santa Barbara County VOAD Access and Functional Needs Steering Group identified a range of issues that it could address.
During a teleconference on June 7, 2011, the Steering Group agreed to:
- Focus on improving disaster outcomes for people with access and functional needs (PAFN) who are living independently.
- Not address issues related to sheltering or residential care facilities, since the County is already working with the American Red Cross and with residential care facility operators on these issues.
- Determine its priorities by means of an online survey.
An online survey of Steering Group members was conducted in June, 2011. Survey items were based on items discussed during the kick-off meeting. The most highly rated issue was "Engage PAFN in the disaster planning process in a way that increases the likelihood that they complete and maintain their plans."
